Four months…twenty four months…for many, it’s been a very long winter…a long wait for our own spring…a freeing from home, from limitations, perhaps from others…imposed and self-imposed isolation in a variety of ways. The living Water, God, gives us grace even in our darkest, coldest moments. We’ve all just been trying to hold up our own roofs unde the weight of so much snow. The thaw will come. Give grace kindly.
the world weighs heavy
like soggy snow
on rooftop drooping
earthward, drip by drip
the heart hums and drums
beating back walls
of mind and matter
a want to wander
one is half, not whole
barred and baited
ties and tension – snapped
self-snared and storied
oh, spring, sing wildflowers
and tree-lined trails
open breath and break
wintered wear and gloom
living Water flows
drink deep, in place
and give grace kindly
dawn rises from dirt
