what is it about today?

I know.
I see it.
Movement.

Clustered tips of arborvitae
bend with the breeze
and I want to be in that
supple exchange
of breath and life.

Thick botanic pillars
bound in ruffled sprays
of green, fan over fan
hand in hand, as one,
yet varied as thought.

Is this not faith and grace
in one fragrant tower, a sign
and shadow of our shape,
from Edenic design
of Wisdom’s heart?

And yet here is a heart, too.
What is it about today?
A sapling behind glass
whipped and whirled while
stronger things take root.

(John 1:3 – “All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.”)
